Well it was a bank holiday and it was never going to blow at all inland so I thought I'd try to check out Borth.

I'd never sailed in the estuary before and so as high tide was in the afternnon I thought I'd check it out.

It was always going to be marginal but I got to know the place a bit, learn where the channel was and the sand banks.

I had a play in the channel whilst waiting for the tide to come in to see how deep it was and where I could get to, used the Flow and a 6.5 but didn't really get going. Tried a few heli tacks, found it easier to turn the nose off the wind but it was so fast that I took a dive each time.

Later I tried the big board and I mean big but with a 58cm fin. Found that I needed to stay in the channel even at high tide.

Sailed over to Aberdovey on a 7.5m to have a look about which was fun especially as it was really sunny by now.

If I go out again when its this marginal I think the 9.0m straight down the centre of the cannels and over to Aberdovey and have a play over there where its deeper.

2 stars, 1 for checking out a new location (I will be back soon), and 2 for the sun shine and tan!
